Stock Videos

Free stock video is mostly used for background loops in hero sections, product promos and social content. This category lists the main free libraries, including Pexels and Pixabay videos, Coverr, Mixkit, Videezy, Videvo and Life of Vids, plus Loopvidz cinemagraphs where only part of the frame moves.

Check the license on each clip rather than each site. Some libraries mix free and premium footage on the same pages, and some free clips require attribution. Footage that shows people, logos or private property may carry extra restrictions, especially in advertising, so read the terms before using a clip in a paid campaign.

Background video is expensive for page weight, so treat it carefully. Trim clips to a few seconds, re-encode them at the resolution you actually display, serve a modern codec with a fallback, and set muted, playsinline and a poster image so the page looks finished before playback starts. Respect prefers-reduced-motion by pausing or replacing the video for users who ask for less motion.
